From small components to
600-ton steel structures
For more than 20 years, East Metal A / S has supplied high-quality components and steel structures to leading
wind turbine manufacturers. Thoroughness is the hallmark of the company from West Jutland, which has a
constant focus on creating value and security for their partners.

ast Metal started as a supplier of steel
components to the furniture industry
in the mid-90s. Soon after, the company began to engage in the thriving serial
production of wind turbines. Production has
since expanded from smaller components
to heavy, complex steel structures up to 600
tonnes.
More than just a subcontractor
East Metal has managed to adapt to the
industry's developments and today has over
40,000 m2 of production space spread across
four modern factories, which help ensure
high competitiveness in terms of delivery
time, price, and quality.
- By considering the entire value chain, we
reduce the direct cost of the products. Our flexible and specialized production facilities enable us to deliver directly to customers' needs,
just in time, saving them storage, quality, and
handling costs. In addition, we can supply
them with secondary steel structures, technical installations, and other things that make
the product much more interchangeable, says
Erik Gammelgaard, Marketing and Business
Development Manager at East Metal A / S.
- We are moving more and more towards the
role of a total supplier that delivers integrated
solutions to the industry. That's one of the
ways we meet customers' desire for lower unit
costs on the turbines and individual components, he adds.
Hand in hand with the process
At East Metal, nothing is left to chance.
Thoroughness is a keyword that characterizes all processes from the very beginning to
the delivery of the finished product.
- We attach great importance to achieving
a balance between the customer's needs
and the technical possibilities based on the
drawings and requirements specifications we
receive. We then prepare detailed production
plans for the individual product parts, which
specify an order, welding settings, and other
details. You can say that we have adopted
the IKEA assembly model as it creates a good
process and a consistent result explains Erik
Gammelgaard and continues:
- When people have bad experiences with
subcontractors, often it is because there has
not been a proper alignment of expectations.
We always try to foster confidence in potential customers inviting them to visit so that
they can audit us and observe how we run the
systems. We have had very good experiences
with that, he notes.
- Many of our colleagues consider it to be
simple component tasks, but that is not how
we see our role at all. We must be the ones to
challenge the systems so that the processes
can be streamlined all the way from components to finished wind turbines," says Erik
Gammelgaard in conclusion.
ABOUT EAST METAL A/S
The company employs approximately 650
employees at its head office in Esbjerg and three

delivery time and price, while specialization in
welding, machining, surface treatment, tensile
testing, and assembly provides a certified quality
according to the customer's expectations.
Deliveries to the wind turbine industry include
nacelle (as well as parts thereof), platforms, pitch
systems, structural frames, and all necessary
