ith a central location on the Danish west coast and located inside
the Limfjord, with excellent sailing
conditions in all kinds of weather, Thyboron
Port has been a focal point for maritime activities for more than 100 years. The harbor
was built, back in the 1910s, in large part due
to the steady persistence and exceptional
perseverance of the area's fishermen. At the
time, the idea of creating a port on the west
coast of Jutland was in doubt.
At the forefront of offshore development
The Port of Thyboron has preserved its
roots and still supports fisheries today, but
also handles large quantities of cargo. Additionally, the port has, for many years, focused on developing facilities that cater to
the west coast's thriving offshore industry.
- We have worked hard to create an optimal
framework for the offshore market in the
form of project quay facilities with the right
bearing capacity and water depth, as well as
associated onshore areas, which can be used
for installation projects. Additionally, we
have made a strategic division of the port so
that our business areas are not in each other
way, and we can continuously expand the
facilities as needed. In this way, we are at the
forefront of development and ready to help
offshore projects on their way, says Jesper
Holt Jensen, Director of Thyboron Port.
Cost-effective services in a flexible setup
In addition to the project quay facilities,
which were built back in 2016 and have been
in operation ever since, the Port of Thyboron also has an O&M center, conceived and
designed in collaboration with customers,
to meet the specific needs of the offshore
industry. Overall, this paints an image of a
port where flexibility is the keyword.
- We know we are dealing with an industry where you have to be cost-effective
and have a partner on the port side who
can offer a flexible set up at the right price.
Additionally, we have a robust maritime
service industry, including the North Sea
Offshore Service Group cluster, either locally at the port or in the neighboring inland
areas, which can help with everything from
surface treatment to all types of forging, hydraulics, and electronics services, explains
Jesper Holt Jensen and continues:
The west coast port, combined with an
east-facing entry into the Limfjord, offers a full
range of accommodation, with more than 100
companies supporting the offshore industry
with local services.
Thyboron Port has, for some time, been testing
sites for offshore wind turbines - an experimental
scheme that the port will continue to work with in
an effort to accommodate offshore development
in the North Sea.

the 26th to the 28th of November
Thyboron Port descends from a fishing
tradition that still characterizes our DNA
today. A service-minded and collaborative
culture that is about the job being done
when it is there and the customer being
serviced right away. It plays well with an
offshore DNA, where you can't just sit still
over the weekend if you have a problem. We
focus on servicing our customers with the
same tenacity that characterized the area's
fishermen at the establishment of Thyboron
Port in 1914, he concludes.
