We have to work smarter in future, says CEO and founder of Deck1, Jim Hededal Nielsen. Installed offshore wind capacity will increase multiple times in future, with considerably bigger wind turbines located further out at sea, and this means a new way to work. Competition for staff will be fierce so we need to work smarter and more flexible. One of the barriers that must be torn down is the lack of cooperation between the offshore wind industry and the oil & gas industry. The new digital platform, which is a B2B tool, consists of three parts: Trading, Operational and Analytics. The trading part connects sellers and buyers, from tiny companies to very large corporates. We break down the silos and provide the market visibility for logistics and services, providing opportunity for a more efficient supply chain Everything can be traded and all the agreements contain digital tracking and documentation, says Jim Hededal Nielsen. The operational part is a compliance and operational management tool, that allows the contractor to follow up in a DPR, a daily progress report, and the supplier to internally optimise best practice. The analytics part will contain scientific data such as weather data and operational data, and can used for decision support and to help track down the right assets for the job direct in the trade module of DECK1 For example, finding a vessel that can work in a given environment and with given weather conditions, says Jim Hededal Nielsen. The trading part is already operational, with operations to follow in 2022, and analytics in 2023.
