DEFENCE NORDIC
AD INSERT
Army conscript examines satellite information.
Drones, robotics
and new sensors
One of the clear technological
themes in this years exhibitor field
is unmanned systems and sensor
technology. The list of reserved
stands includes companies such
as AeroVironment, DroneShield,
Hecto Drone, Blue Atlas Robotics,
Robotto, Saildrone, Sea Machines
Robotics, Sky-Watch and Renegade UXS. This points to an exhibition where airborne, maritime and
land-based unmanned systems will
play a significant role.
This fits into the broader development of the Danish Armed Forces.
The procurement plan includes,
among other things, UGVs for the
Danish Defence Drone Centre,
unattended ground sensors, coastal
surveillance cameras, spotting scopes for maritime surveillance and
various types of measuring equipment.
Individually, these may not always
be spectacular pieces of equipment.
Taken together, however, they point
to a central trend: the Danish Armed
Forces must be able to see, measure, monitor, warn and document
faster and more precisely than before.
Here, DALO Industry Days can
give visitors a concrete impression
of how technologies are moving
from individual platforms to integrated systems. Drones are not just
flying cameras. They are connected
to sensors, data links, software, artificial intelligence, communication
solutions, countermeasures and
operational needs. The same applies to maritime robots, autonomous
surface vessels and sensors for
coastal and maritime surveillance.
Cyber, software and the
invisible infrastructure
Another significant theme is cyber,
IT and digital infrastructure. The
exhibitor list includes companies
such as Arbit Cyber Defence Systems, CGI Danmark, Cisco, Clavister, Dencrypt, DXC Technology
Denmark, Fortinet, IBM, MilDef,
Milestone Systems, Netcompany,
Netic, Oracle, OPSWAT, SecPoint
and secunet.
This area is often less visible
than vehicles, weapons and equipment, but in practice it is becoming
increasingly important. Modern defence depends on secure networks,
robust communication systems,
access control, data management,
video analytics, operations rooms,
satellite connections and protection
against cyberattacks.
This applies both at the operational level and in the administrative
and logistical parts of the Danish
Armed Forces.
Here too, the exhibition may serve as a bridge between the needs
of the Danish Armed Forces and the
solutions offered by industry. DALOs procurement plan emphasises
that dialogue with industry should
give the Danish Armed Forces better market knowledge and give industry better insight into upcoming
procurements.
At the same time, the plan stresses that dialogue must take place
within procurement rules, so that no
supplier gains an unfair competitive
advantage.
Logistics, containers
and fuel
A third theme at this years exhibition is the part of defence capability
that rarely receives the most attention, but is crucial in practice: logistics, transport, energy and maintenance.
The exhibitor list includes companies such as Blue Water Shipping,
DB Cargo Full Load Solutions, Scan
Global Logistics, NTG Group, NorSea Denmark, DESMI Pumping Technology, Danfoss Power Solutions,
Hybridgenerator, Nordhavn Power
Solutions and PowerCon.
This also matches several of
the planned procurements. DALO
points, among other things, to transport containers and prefabricated
accommodation and work containers, personnel transport containers, mobile fuel tank systems, fuel
deliveries, tanker deliveries and
strategic transport.
In a defence organisation that
must be able to operate in Denmark, in the Arctic, in the Baltic region, during exercises and in international missions, security of supply is
not a background service function. It
is part of combat power.
This applies to fuel, spare parts,
transport, medical supplies, food,
water purification, containers, storage solutions and the preparation of
equipment.
Soldier equipment and
practical protection
DALO Industry Days will also include the more tangible part of the defence industry: clothing, equipment,
protection and personal gear.
The exhibitor list includes companies such as Aclima, Barents
Outdoor, Blücher, Carinthia, Cooneen Defence, Galvion, NFM Group,
Protection Group Denmark, Revision Military and several suppliers
of components, textiles, protective
equipment and specialised gear.
This is an area where the Danish
Armed Forces has large and recurring needs. The procurement plan
mentions, among other things, helmets, ballistic protective eyewear,
CBRN suits, backpacks, combat
boots, workwear, functional clothing
and other uniform items.
Here, the exhibition is relevant
both for specialised defence suppliers and for companies from civilian
markets whose products may have
defence potential. Comfort, durability, fire safety, ballistic protection,
weight, documentation and delivery

reliability can all be decisive parameters when equipment is to be
used operationally.
A market for
partnerships
In 2026, the exhibition will be spread
across four halls and a large outdoor area. Indoor stand types are sold
out, while the organisers continue to
list outdoor stand options.
DALO Industry Days is also a
business and collaboration platform.
According to the exhibitions own
material, the event offers the opportunity to meet government representatives from NATO and NATO-allied
countries, as well as their defence
and procurement authorities.
This matters because the Danish
defence industry largely consists of
subcontractors and niche companies that can become part of larger
international value chains.
The Danish Ministry of Defences
Open for Business strategy points
out that Danish companies can often access foreign markets through
partnerships and subcontractor roles with larger companies.
The strategy also highlights the
value of dialogue between the Danish Armed Forces and industry:
the armed forces gain access to
better products, innovative solutions
and civilian technological expertise,
while companies gain insight into
upcoming needs and new contacts
with international customers and
suppliers.
DALO Industry Days will therefore
not only be a place where companies display products. It will also be
a place where they explore possible
collaborations, subcontractor roles,
export opportunities and technological partnerships.
For smaller Danish companies, it
may be where they meet the larger
system houses, authorities or international partners that can otherwise
be difficult to reach.
